HVAC Switch helps U.S. homeowners figure out what to do when an air conditioner, heat pump or furnace breaks down or gets old: whether to repair or replace it, which system makes sense for their home and climate, what it should cost and which rebates are still available.
Who’s behind HVAC Switch
HVAC Switch is an independent project by Alex Ivov, based in Madrid, Spain. We are not an HVAC contractor, and we don’t sell or install equipment, so our only job is to explain your options clearly.
What you’ll find here
- Guides organized by system and decision: heat pumps, central air, furnaces, comparisons, brands, rebates and financing, troubleshooting and buying guides.
- Free calculators to estimate replacement cost, system size and operating cost.
How we work
- Verifiable sources. We rely on official sources such as the U.S. Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR, the EPA and the IRS, on rebate program pages and on manufacturer specifications, and we link to them in every article.
- Dated numbers. Prices, tax rules and rebates change, so we say when each figure was checked.
- Clear assumptions. When we estimate a cost or a saving, we show how we got there.
