In other words, moving from Comfort to Infinity roughly doubles the price for a 3-ton system, but it buys much higher efficiency and quieter, variable-speed operation. Carrier’s overall range of $6,000 to $25,000 also covers smaller and larger homes, ductwork changes and complex installations.

What each Carrier line offers

  • Comfort 16 (27SCA5): first of all, a single-stage heat pump rated up to 16 SEER2, 13 EER2 and 8.1 HSPF2, and ENERGY STAR certified on select sizes. Carrier notes that for better humidity control you’d step up to a two-stage or variable-speed model.
  • Performance 19 (27VPA9): a variable-speed model rated up to 19 SEER2, 14 EER2 and 10 HSPF2, running as quietly as 57 decibels.
  • Infinity 23 (27VNA3): Carrier’s most efficient heat pump, rated up to 23 SEER2, 13.5 EER2 and 10.5 HSPF2. It runs from 30% to 100% of capacity and, according to Carrier, provides heating down to −13°F.

Also, all three use Carrier’s Puron Advance refrigerant. For a side-by-side with another premium brand, see Lennox vs Carrier heat pumps.

What else affects Carrier heat pump prices

  • Size: in general, larger homes need more capacity, so a 5-ton system costs more than a 2-ton one; size it with a Manual J load calculation.
  • Air handler or furnace: a heat pump also needs a matching indoor unit, which adds to the price.
  • Ductwork and electrical work: similarly, repairs, new ducts or a panel upgrade can add thousands.
  • Dealer and region: moreover, labor rates and dealer pricing vary widely.
  • Rebates: the federal tax credit ended for equipment installed after December 31, 2025, but utility rebates and, when replacing electric equipment, federal HEEHR rebates (formerly HEAR) may apply.

Carrier heat pump warranty

In addition, Carrier heat pumps carry its Consumer Choice warranty: if you register within 90 days, you can choose 10 years of parts coverage or, through participating dealers, 5 years of parts plus 3 years of labor. Otherwise, coverage drops to 5 years. Therefore, ask your dealer to register the system and confirm which option applies.

Is a Carrier heat pump worth the price?

Overall, Carrier sits at the premium end, as HomeGuide’s brand price data shows.
